Do you often find yourself feeling very tired and sleepy during the day, even after a full night’s rest?
While it’s common to feel tired during the day once in awhile, persistent symptoms of daytime drowsiness could be linked to your sleep and health habits.
More complicated reasons for not being able to sleep are:
Insomnia
Depression
However, most of the time is just a matter of understanding how the body functions and sleeps.
Thankfully, there are things you can do to force your body to feel rested and happy during the day.
1. For starters, you need to understand that the 8 hour sleep guideline is just that, a guideline. It works for a lot of people, but it doesn’t work for everybody. So adjust it to get it right for you.
2. Too much sleep can be just as bad as too little sleep. What’s too much sleep, you ask? Only you know that, because each person is different.
3. To figure out at what time you should be going to bed, figure out what time you need to get up in the morning, and count back 7.5 hours as a good time to start getting to bed.
4. Try this 7.5 hours sleep duration for 3 days. If you find yourself waking about 10 minutes before your alarm goes off, you’ve found your perfect bedtime. However, if you’re still waking up because of your alarm, trying pushing your bedtime back another 15 minutes.
5. If you want to sleep better, keep your room dark and quiet a couple of minutes before actually going to bed.
